About Us

Our Story:

Feed A Fish 4 Life, Inc. was founded to address the alarming rates of drowning in minority communities by providing free swim lessons in a safe, comfortable and supportive environment. Our founder, Nkechi Ogbuchiekwe, started this nonprofit with a simple goal: empower children with the skills and confidence to be safe in and around water for life.

After seeing how fear, lack of access, and generational trauma kept many kids from learning to swim, Nkechi created a space for change — starting in her own backyard pool.

Why It Matters:

Drowning is one of the leading causes of death in children, especially in underserved communites. Many parents never learned to swim and feel powerless to help. We're here to change that- one swimmer at a time.
