About the Board
Nkechi and Ijeoma are sisters, and together with their longtime friend Zedrick—whom they have known for over 25 years—they share a deep love of swimming and community. All three are self-taught swimmers since childhood, and they understand both the joy and the necessity of knowing how to swim. Their combined experience and passion inspire Feed A Fish 4 Life’s mission to teach children vital swimming skills and promote water safety.
Founder & Heart Behind the Mission: Nkechi Ogbuchiekwe
Meet Nkechi – Founder & President
Nkechi Ogbuchiekwe is a lifelong lover of the water. Growing up in sunny Arizona, she learned to swim at a young age and developed a deep passion for it—competing in swim teams through high school and college. That love for swimming stayed with her, shaping not only her confidence but also her commitment to helping others feel safe and strong in the water.
She holds a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University and a master’s degree from the University of Phoenix. Now living in Georgia, Nkechi is a devoted wife, mother of two energetic boys, and a proud guinea pig owner. When she’s not working on Feed A Fish 4 Life, you’ll find her at the soccer field—either cheering from the sidelines, coaching her sons team, playing with her sons, or enjoying a match with her family. An avid traveler, Nkechi treasures exploring new cultures and creating memories around the world with her loved ones.
Through Feed A Fish 4 Life, Nkechi channels her personal story, passion for community, and dedication to drowning prevention into action—one swimmer at a time.
Finance Coordinator, "The Piggy Bank Boss" : Ijeoma Ogbuchiekwe
Ijeoma Ogbuchiekwe is a devoted mental health therapist who works closely with children and families. Through her work, she’s witnessed how small gaps in safety education can lead to heartbreaking outcomes. That’s why she’s passionate about water safety and committed to helping Feed A Fish 4 Life teach children how to swim with confidence and care.
Outside the therapy room, Ijeoma is a proud dog mom (who swears her pup understands full conversations), a globe-trotter with a suitcase always half-packed, and a yoga instructor—well, retired, but she still insists downward dog counts even if the dog joins in. A lifelong swimmer, she brings heart, humor, and healing energy to everything she touches.
Director of Partnerships & Presence: Zedrick Hagler
Zedrick here—but you can call me Zen.
With a heart for helping others find peace and purpose, I’m especially passionate about supporting our youth so they can grow into leaders who uplift the next generation. That’s why Feed A Fish 4 Life resonates so deeply with me—it’s not just about swimming, it’s about confidence, community, and giving every child the chance to thrive in and out of the water.
In my spare time, you’ll find me enjoying the beauty of sunrises, sunsets, and all types of weather. I have a deep love for home décor, live bands, anything involving water, and savoring a big cup of hot coffee while working on my first book.
To me, culture isn’t just a collection of activities—it’s a way of life grounded in inclusion, expression, and belonging.
